Join us these school holidays for a free screening of Travel Channel’s (SKY 025) new underwater series Descending before it hits TV screens. You’ll see incredible underwater footage on the big screen, meet TV host and adventurer Ellis Emmett and see some of the museum’s marine specimens up close with Natural Sciences Collection Manager Severine Hannam.
Descending is a stunning new Travel Channel series that premieres on 21 August 2013, a brave new look at the underwater world capturing some of the most incredible underwater footage ever and hosted by Kiwi presenter Ellis Emmett and Scott Wilson and shot by Andre Dupuis. Nearly three quarters of our planet is water. No matter how tall the highest peak, how vast the broadest desert or how inhospitable the polar caps—it’s all insignificant compared to what lies beneath the waves. Descending is a travel adventure series that will take viewers on a thrilling adventure into the depths of our world to see places and creatures few of us ever will. Each episode features a new setting, stunning environments and fascinating cultures from our own backyard to some of the planet’s most remote destinations including Djibouti, Sudan, Vancouver Island, Caribbean, Grenada, South Africa, Iceland, Solomon Islands and of course New Zealand. An aquatic adventure series for a new generation, Descending pushes the boundaries of existing digital camera technology to capture some of the most incredible underwater footage ever created.
